hotels in krabi
Ram asked:

We’re going to Asia this September and staying in Krabi (or Ao Nang Beach) for 3 days. Wanted to see what are some nice modern, minimalist, chic or boutique hotels worth looking into. Based on Tripadvisor, the only one I have found so far is the Alis Hotel & Spa.

We’re looking for something that is close to all the action. I’m not looking for anything fancy, just good location, clean rooms and safe hotel and of course, one where the AC works. I don’t need a fancy pool, or the outstanding customer service, or the awesome super breakfast buffet or the state-of-the-art fitness center, etc.

In saying that, what are your thoughts of this hotel and/or do you recommend any other ones in particular? I’m looking to stay within the $50-$90US/night price range.

Any information is appreciated.

  2. You might get a room at the top end of your range at the Cliff Hotel, which lies at the top of the main road coming out of Ao Nang Beach. This hotel has separate “bungalows”, with showers open to the stars. It does have an infinity swimming pool, but otherwise is not overburdened with extra facilities which you won’t use.
But they WILL serve you (NON-buffet) breakfast outside your bungalow.
It’s in a quiet location, but only a short walk down the hill are dozens of restaurants and bars, and the Ao Nang beach.
The US$ doesn’t buy you much nowadays. It has depreciated recently against all major currencies, and for some reason one of the worst effects has been against the Baht, where it has dropped from about B40 to B33.

  3. I stayed at the Cliff Ao Nang resort in May…It isn’t right on the beach if that’s what your looking for, but its only a 5 minute motorbike ride to get there, they rent motorbikes right at the hotel……nice place to stay
