Visit - You can book on line. I have used them in the past and are very good. Click on Holiday Shop or Worldwide Travel to find the hotels/stars/info/location etc.
You do not need to be a member to book the hotels, however as a member you will save more money as you will be able to book resorts and those prices are per unit rather than per person.
Have a nice holiday.

Usually, the cheapest rates are given over the internet. Occasionally you bargain for a lower price in some of the smaller hotels, but the larger ones are usually fairly strict about rates and will even tell you that it's cheaper over the internet. You should try websites like:

          Agoda.com
          Asiativ.com
          hoteltravel.com

Good? do you mean like 5 stars or just a clean room with a good bed.

5 star, it will be the net. For everthing else book when you get there, Thailand is built on TAT (thailand authority of tourism) stores, there everywhere with people to help you find a room, travel domestically or sightsee. Thats what I did when I went to ao-nang which is near krabi and got a four star room for $15 a night.

Unfortunately you are going to be visiting at the very height of peak season when prices go through the roof. For a decent, four star plus hotel you are going to have to pay a little more than 100 UKP a night. If you want nice surroundings and good service, it sadly doesn't come cheap.

The Layana on Koh Lanta gets consistently good reviews, and it's in a more convenient location than Pimalai and they are charging 11,000 Baht during peak season - around 160 UKP

The Layana is pricey for food, but as it's on Long Beach there are plenty of other, cheap and tasty restaurants a short walk along the beach - I recommend the restaurant "Somewhere Else" for excellent Thai food and also Mr Wee's Pizza. (No, really!) .

I'd avoid the Sofitel in Krabi - that's had consistently bad reviews despite costing a fortune. Sofitel are really hit and miss as a hotel brand.

I stayed at the Cliff Ao Nang resort in May...It isn't right on the beach if that's what your looking for, but its only a 5 minute motorbike ride to get there, they rent motorbikes right at the hotel......nice place to stay

Hi - I am not sure about the prices so I apologise in advance if it is too expensive, but last year we stayed at the Rayavadee in Krabi and it was the ultimate in luxury..... their website is but it may be cheaper to book it via the UK. We stayed in a two storey bungalow with a swimming pool in the garden! The service was absolutely second to none and we got to watch wild monkeys swimming in our pool!

The restaurants were all very good but on Railey beach there are some other hotels that cater for backpackers with good value restaurants, also every day boats selling lunch for as little as £1 pull up on the shore.......

I would go back there in a heartbeat!

On Koh Lanta, the most popular is probably Pimalai Resort, but there are many good hotels to choose from.

In Krabi (mainland), I suggest Sand Sea Resort in Ao Railay or Ao Nang Villa Resort in Ao Nang. Don't stay at Klong Muang.

You might get a room at the top end of your range at the Cliff Hotel, which lies at the top of the main road coming out of Ao Nang Beach. This hotel has separate "bungalows", with showers open to the stars. It does have an infinity swimming pool, but otherwise is not overburdened with extra facilities which you won't use.
But they WILL serve you (NON-buffet) breakfast outside your bungalow.
It's in a quiet location, but only a short walk down the hill are dozens of restaurants and bars, and the Ao Nang beach.
The US$ doesn't buy you much nowadays. It has depreciated recently against all major currencies, and for some reason one of the worst effects has been against the Baht, where it has dropped from about B40 to B33.
