Palm Spa Village 3 stars

The North of Thailand is an area of picturesquely rugged uplands, characterized by high, forested hills, including the Kingdom’s highest point, Doi Inthanon, which rises 2,565 meters. Traversing the highlands are four principal rivers – the Ping, the Wang, the Yam and the Nan – all of which roughly are located north to south. The region’s northern border meets those of two neighboring countries – Laos to the east and Myanmar to the west.

As Chiang Mai is the old city of “Lanna Kingdom” during the 13th to 16th century, it was the center of important religious activities and up to present times managed to preserve its culture.

Various historical and religious sits are maintained for guests to visit and pay respects to, such as Wat Phra Sing, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Prathat Doi Suthep. The National Museum is one place that guests to Chiang Mai should not miss. It displays an array of preserved historical elements of the Lanna culture.

Chiang Mai is famous for local handicrafts such as silverware, celadon ceramic ware, textiles such as cotton and silk, woodcarving, lacquer ware, umbrella and hill tribe hand made products. Visitors not only can purchase local handicrafts from various shops in Sankampaeng and Baan Tawai – Hang Dong, but can also watch the processes involved in their creation. Other places to shop are the Night Bazaar and Nimmanhemindr Road.
