Samui Buri Beach Resort & Spa 4 stars

Thai Heritage takes a very simple and beautiful form and is well adapted for our tropical climate. The traditional Thai house is ideally adapted to its environment. There are many features common to traditional houses up and down the country. Entire living areas are often raised on stilts to protect against flooding and to allow life to flourish alongside river and flood plain areas. Roofs are normally steeply slanted to quickly carry rainwater away from the house. Many are often decorated to reflect religious and local historical influences. The use of hardwoods, bamboo and dried leaves in the construction process helps to keep the buildings dry and cool.

Over many centuries the Thai house has acquired its own unique style. The distinguishing marks are an elegantly tapering roof and various finials and decorations that differ regionally. While architectural features vary throughout the four cultural regions; Central Thailand, the North (Lanna), the North-East (Isaan), and the South, the method of raising a platform on poles is common to all parts of the country. It offers protection from dirt, hostile wildlife, thieves and most importantly from the monsoon floods which affect all of Thailand. There are regional differences in style though. Northern houses have smaller windows because of the cooler weather. Houses in the Kingdom's Central Plains have a much larger central veranda which often serves as a communal area for many different houses. Traditional Thai houses are still the design of choice in rural areas but less so in urban areas.

Thai massage

TWO HOURS
The Traditional Thai massage is a technique that employs slow, strong movements and acupressure, along with some gentle stretches which energize and invigorate the body as well as realign the energy pathways. Thai massage is best enjoyed as a regular practice. It can be somewhat uncomfortable if you are not limber. Thai massage is best enjoyed if done for two hours. This gives the therapist the time to work the whole body. Some people prefer more time especially if one likes more attention on the neck & shoulders which is an area usually not addressed in a shorter Thai massage.

Relaxation oil massage

ONE AND A HALF HOURS
A smooth, strong, full-body massage done with Thai herbal oils with particular focus on the back, neck and shoulders. As its name implies, a relaxation massage is less energetic than a traditional Thai massage. Combining Swedish and soft tissue techniques it works those areas of your body which carry the most stress; the neck, shoulders, and back. Choose from one of our many Thai herbal or aroma therapy oils each with its own special healing qualities.

Head massage

ONE HOUR
Our head massage is a nurturing and totally relaxing hour of gentleness. The masseuse works on the face and head and lightly on the shoulders, using a combination of gentle pressure, stroking, and massage.

Foot massage

ONE HOUR
The foot massage combines a refreshing foot scrub with light acupressure and massage. This is not a reflexology foot massage. Lie back in one of our antique planters & prime chairs, put your feet up and let the those aches and stresses be eased away.

Herbal face massage

ONE HOUR
A wonderful combination of facial techniques using Thai herbal products. During the Thai herbal face massage we apply all natural ingredients that are gentle on the skin.
