Adventure & Sports: Kanchanaburi
This province on the western border is the site of the world-famous Bridge over the River Kwai and the Death Railway. It is also a popular adventure destination thanks to its location in the western mountain country, covered with forests and crisscrossed with a network of rivers.
Kanchanaburi is home to a large ethnic population, including the Mon, Karen and Burmese, who have long settled in the border towns of Sangkhlaburi and Thong Pha Phum. Most tour operators in Kanchanaburi offer trips to these areas that combine culture and adventure in one easily accessible package.
