Where to stay in Phuket : Patong

PatongPatong is the tourism centre of Phuket. It boasts a clean soft white sand beach, indigo waters and unparalleled beauty. Patong also offers a full range of facilities, including hotels, restaurants, banks, parks, entertainment venues and department stores ready to cater to tourists, and has therefore become a favourite destination for tourists from all over the world.

Visitors know well that the beach is also a centre for nightlife. In the evening, after the beach, Soi Bang La becomes alive with lights and music. This is another feature of Patong beach, dubbed the ‘Patpong' of Phuket. All sorts of services are on offer, such as haunted houses, Muay Thai (Thai Boxing), cabaret shows and so on. The beach roads are lined with stalls selling imitation goods of almost all the famous brands, such as watches, clothing and leather products. There are also a variety of restaurants serving both eastern and western fare.

Patong Travel from Patong to Phuket Town is possible by bus, or more convenient by tuk-tuk. However, visitors who prefer to rent a car at Patong beach should be skilled at driving up steep inclines, as it is necessary to drive up a hill before you reach the beach, and the route is quite steep and winding, so caution should be exercised, especially during rainfall as the road may be quite slippery.

Accommodation and Facilities

The Patong beach area offers an abundance of hotels and resorts, but there are few next to the beach, as most are situated on the road behind the beach. However, there is a wide range of hotels for all types of visitor. The accommodation in this area is more expensive than in Phuket Town, but during the rainy season (November to October) hotels are very cheap and there are many special promotions on offer for visitors. Renowned hotels in this area include the Diamond Cliff Resort, Le Meridien Phuket, Holiday Inn Resort, Baan Yin Dee Boutique Resortand many others.
